Tommorrow
Tomorrow
Suddenly becomes today
And I start remembering
What last night you had to say
You said you danced with a girl
Back in your high school days
That had more spray net in her hair
Than the B-52’s ever dreamed side ways
And what about that one
That wore her Poodle skirt to school
Man that was something
Her dancing like that at the edge
Of the rules
You were doin some slide stroll thing
You and John were tryin but Ronnie was the best
And that sweet thing that lived up on Blue Bonnet
She eventually put all of yall to the test
Not much rest but a good test
********
Sure there were some heart aches and breaks
That always came down the line
And you said one shouldn’t be too proud of ones self
And everyone deserved to have some regrets from
Time to time
But there was the music The Big Bopper
Buddy Holly even Elvis sang a tune
That had those 45’s spinnin
And girls swoonin in their rooms
Cute ones too with those white lace socks
And Pony tails in their hair
Like you wouldn’t carry their books home
For them even if you lived completely
Opposite of there
Kathy was the one taught you to dance
She eased you into that world
The twist woke you up to the
Outrageous subtle power of a girl
You even saw Misty again at the 10 year re-union
You were both all 74 wild in a parking lot
She in her Cadillac and both of you
Kinda getting off on the chance you
Might get caught
You take some risks you said you take some falls
And sure times can get hard and lean and tough
And you’re only young once but hey
If you do it right once is enough
But sometimes no matter how you recall it
It somehow has a sad streak runnin through
Yeah it’s true it’s true it’s true
Rock N Roll had a dad
And his name was the Blues
****
****
Tomorrow
Suddenly becomes today
And I woke up this morning
And remembered to remember
What you gave a damn enough
To say
Neils
